N.meningitidis colonies on blood agar. Colonies of Neisseria meningitidis are unpigmented and appear round, smooth, glistening, and convex (after 24 hours), with a clearly defined edge. Some strains may produce large, grey, opaque colonies.
Cultivation 24 hours in an aerobic atmosphere enriched with 5% carbon dioxide, 37°C.
