Cetrimide agar is used for the selective isolation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from clinical specimens.
Cetrimide is a quaternary ammonium salt which acts as a cationic detergent. It exhibits inhibitory actions
on a wide variety of microorganisms including Pseudomonas spp. other than Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
