Staphylococcus aureus

Beta-hemolytic colonies of Staphylococcus aureus on CAP agar (blood agar with 5% of defibrinated sheep blood, colistin and aztreonam). Cultivation 24 hours, aerobic atmosphere, 37°C. Colonies are surroundend by a zone of beta-hemolysis (you can "read through the agar medium").

 
 
Microscopy:
Gram-positive cocci, nonmotile, tend to be arranged in grape-like clusters.
