It causes a disease known as Summer Diarrhea. Morganella morganii, being a member of the tribe Proteae of the family Enterobacteriaceae, is a Gram-negative bacillus with two subspecies: M. morganii and M. sibonii. This bacterium is found in the environment and in the intestinal tract of humans and other organisms. There are several symptoms that this bacterium can cause: sepsis, ecthyma, endophthalmitis, choirioamnionitis, and more commonly urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, meningitis, and septic arthritis.
