Staphylococcus aureus

Staphylococcus aureus, CAP agar with 5% defibrinated sheep blood. Cultivation 24 hours, aerobic atmosphere, 37°C. Not all strains of S.aureus are yellow pigmented. Notice a weak beta hemolysis (detail in the upper-right corner).

 
 
Microscopy:
Gram-positive cocci, nonmotile, tend to be arranged in grape-like clusters.
