S.pyogenes cultivated on CAP agar (sheep blood agar with colistin + aztreonam). Cultivation 24 hours in an aerobic atmosphere, 5% CO2. Colonies are surroundend by a zone of beta-hemolysis.
Microscopy: Spherical or ovoid cells in chains of short to medium length (4-10 cells).
