Staphylococcus aureus

Staphylococcus aureus, Columbia agar with 5% defibrinated sheep blood. Cultivation 24 hours, aerobic atmosphere, 37°C. Colonies in this strain are surroundend by a wide zone of beta-hemolysis and have only a weak yellow pigmentation.

 
 
Microscopy:
Gram-positive cocci, nonmotile, tend to be arranged in grape-like clusters.
