Beta-hemolytic streptococci grow better in cultivation atmosphere enriched with 5-10% of CO2 (capnophylic bacteria). Colonies are larger with more distinctive beta-hemolysis around them. Cultivation on sheep blood agar, 24 hours, 37°C.
